Players of Rivers State owned Sharks Football Club would begin training ahead of the new season today, after suspending their warning strike over unpaid wages.

Players of the Port Harcourt-based side boycotted training sessions since last week to draw the attention of the state government to their plight.

However, at a meeting held with the management yesterday, the players resolved to resume work so long as their outstanding salaries would be paid before their first league match this weekend.

Chairman of Sharks Supporters Club, Minaiyo Igani who was at the meeting attended by players representatives and the technical crew confirmed the development.

He said the players accepted to toe the path of peace for the benefit of all. “Yes the players have agreed to resume training tomorrow (Wednesday) while they await the payment of their salaries this weekend”, Miniaiyo said.

It was, however, learnt that the players had warned that they would resume the strike if they did not receive the money.

The players are demanding fourteen match bonuses and their September salary.

The coach Obuh tutored side which is campaigning in the WAFU Inter-Club competition would begin the 2010/2011 Premier League season with a clash with JUTH FC at the Sharks Stadium on Sunday.
