Success Of Local Content Law Depends On Oil Communities – Special Adviser
The Special Adviser on Oil and Gas to the Delta Governor, Mr David Ekereokosu has said that the success of the Local Content Law will depended oil communities’ involvement in oil industry operations.
He said that for the country to enjoy and sustain the revenue flow from oil operations, the host communities must be involved as co- owners in the industries.
Ekereokosu, spoke to newsmen in Asaba, lauded President Goodluck Jonathan for signing the Nigeria Oil and Gas Local Content Development Act into law.
He said that before the idea of the Local Content Act, Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan had established mechanism for cordial relationship between oil companies and host communities in the state.
“Uduaghan while coming into office has set mechanism to ensure that there exist cordial relationship between oil companies and the host communities, such that the communities must be carried along.
“Thanks to God, that we now have a Nigeria Oil and Gas Local Content Development Act, which has been signed into law by our president,’’ he said.
Ekereokosu said that it was gratifying that the law had been enacted and sued for its strict enforcement for sanity and a conducive environment for oil operations in the country.
