PH Hosts Federation Cup’s Group Stage Matches

Port Harcourt City, the Rivers State capital has been chosen as one of the centres to host the 2010 National Federation  (FA Cup) group matches scheduled to begin next week across four centres in Nigeria.

According to a release signed by Dr Sanusi Mohammed, Nigerian Football Federation, NFF assistant General Secretary, Kano, Ibadan and Makurdi are the other centres to host matches for Group A,C and B respectively.

The fixtures indicate that four teams, Unicom Rovers of Calabar, Kaduna United, Kwara United and Niger Tornadoes of Minna will lock horns in Group D in Port Harcourt.

Makurdi centre will see defending champions, Enyimba International of Aba, Dolphins of Port Harcourt and Arewa United will battling for the group two quarter final tickets.

In Kano, Rangers International, Akwa Starlets, Sunshine Stars and Gateway of Abeokuta will clash, while CAF Champions League campaigners, Heartland of Owerri competes with Ocean Boys, Gray International and Kano Pillars fight it out in Ibadan.

Meanwhile, Tidesports have learnt that the Port Harcourt centres matches will be played at the refurbished Sharks FC stadium instead of the usual Liberation Stadium.

For the semi final pairings, winner of group A is to play group C runners D, while group B winner faces runners p in group D.

Likewise, winners of Group C and D will tackle runners-up in Group A and B respectively.
