The Tide gathered that two of the members of the gang escaped with fatal bullet wounds.
Shortly after the encounter, one locally made Revolver of 2 rounds of 9mm and one locally made single barrel pistol were recovered from their Hyundai car with Regisration Number RV1703 WO.
Also recovered were 3 live and one expended cartridge.
The Police Public relation Officer (PPRO), Rivers Command, Mrs Rita Inoma Abbey, when contacted by The Tide, confirmed the incident. She called on the public to always feed the police with meaningful information that would lead to fishing out bandits that have been terrorising the state. It would be recalled that about a week ago two police officers and a civilian were shot dead by unidentified gun men along Okporo Road, Port Harcourt. The policemen were ambushed by armed men in a black jeep and Mazada car, while on official duty of “stop and search”.
The policemen killed are Sgt. Jonah Okere and Police Corporal David Mark.
