HOS Cup: Mighty Sparrows Tackles Environment For 1/4 Final

The Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communication Football team, the Mighty Sparrows will today trade tackles with their environment counterparts in the on-going civil service football competition, the Head of Service, HOS Cup at the Sharks FC Stadium.

At stake in one of the quarter final tickets of the competition and the Sparrows are determined to earn the ticket.

The match, which will be the second of the day is scheduled to kick-off by 4.30pm and promises to be keenly contested.

According to the captain of the ministry of Information team, Honour Sirawoo, the team, which laboured to edge out Ministry of Finance via penalty shoot-out after 1-1 score line, has worked hard to ensure that victory is secured within regulation time.

He , however acknowledge that the opponents would not be a push over, considering the fact that they qualified for the final last term before being disqualified for fielding ineligible players.

‘The players are motivated to give their best due to the impressive encouragement from our ministry, commissioner and team manager. It will not be easy, but we are determined to win, said Sirawoo.

Before the match, Ministry of Health and Office of the Head of Service are scheduled to do battle in the first game of the day.

In other second round matches decided so far, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture and Tourism pipped their Transport and Sports counterparts 1-0, respectively on Monday.
