RSUST To Establish New Computer Plaza
As part of effort to develop the skills and knowledge of students on information technology, the management of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST) has mapped out strategies to establish new computer plaza in the institution.
Speaking during the public presentation and media launch of Nigeria’s Foremost e-learning and Examination-Prep Software organised by Cinfores Nigeria Limited, Port Harcourt, the Vice Chancellor of RSUST, Professor Barimene B. Fakae said the establishment of a new computer plaza will go a long way in building the capacities of students to compete favourably with their counterparts abroad.
Professor Fakae stated that apart from establishing new computer plaza in the university, the school authority has plans to install over 240 computers in the plaza to enhance students’ performance in Information Communication Technology.
While lauding the Cinfores Nigeria Limited for coming up with a computer package, the vice chancellor said the collaboration with Cinfores in e-Campus service has gone a long way in ensuring that students check their results electronically.
In describing the benefits a student will derive in the use of brainfriend educational software, Mr. Kunle Ladapo of Cinfores said such software will help eradicate examination malpractice due to constant use of branfriend as examination preparatory tool and to help build a student confidence.
Another benefit of the software, according to Ladapo is also to help parents and teachers in assessing the preparedness of their students and wards.
Also speaking, Mr. Asawo Ibifuro stated that the e-learning and examination – prep software package designed by Cinfores is an initiative of a group of persons who share a commitment to make a difference in improving the educational sector in Nigeria.
Mr. Ibifuro stated that through this product, students are exposed to a wide range of over 40,000 questions covering the Nigerian examination curriculum in 35 subjects, adding that the software has the ability to provide support in local and international examinations.
He, however, called on Nigerians to key into the program in order to improve the standard of “Our educational system in the country”.

Education Commissioner Seeks media collaboration in Rivers
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector.
