Residents Ask PHCN To Compensate Families Of Electrocuted Persons
Some residents of Benin have asked the PHCN to pay compensation to the families of three persons who were electrocuted in Andrew Wilson Housing Estate, Benin, on Easter Sunday
Six people, including Mr Ransley Osagie, the former Chairman of the Edo Council of the NUJ, said in a statement in Benin on Friday that the PCHN should also repair the faulty transformer.
They said that the faulty transformer had constituted a danger to the lives of the people living in the area.
They, however, gave the PHCN a seven-day ultimatum to either withdraw its statement that “poor earthing caused the electrocution’’ or face legal action.
The residents also demanded the refund of the money spent on the transformer’s maintenance by the people of the neighbourhood since 1999.
They alleged that the PHCN removed “step-down fuses’’ from some areas under questionable circumstances when it replaced analogue meters with pre-paid meters.
