Nwachi Haunted By CHAN Failure
Dolphins forward, Emma Nwachi says failure to qualify for this year’s African Nations Championships, Chan, would seriously damage the claims of local league players for a place in the Super Eagles.
The domestic league lads were beaten 2-0 by Niger last weekend, leaving them in danger of missing out of the tourney for the second straight edition.
It is a development that Nwachi is not willing to consider.
“We have not forgotten so soon what happened last time that we failed to qualify and we know it will finally put the nail on the coffin of the home based players if we fail to make it to the championships again this season,” Nwachi said.
The Nigerians now need to win by a three-goal margin to progress and Nwachi says they are up for the challenge.
“We are going to give our very best to ensure we qualify,” he said.
The second leg is scheduled for Kano in just under two weeks.
