Kanu To Meet Eagles New Coach Today
Super Eagles Captain Nwankwo Kanu is to meet with new Coach Lars Lagerback today in Abuja when the Swede is unveiled by the Nigeria Football Federation.
The Portsmouth striker was expected to have flown into the country yesterday and will be in Abuja for Lager back’s first official media conference.
He will also join the coach in observing the friendly kick-about between the country’s B side and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The event will be aired live on AIT, the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF’s) official broadcast partner, from 2pm local time. AIT’s two wings of Africa Independent Television and Raypower Radio will transmit the big event live to audiences across the world.
NFF chiefs confirmed that the ceremony will start at 2pm, just two hours before the international friendly clash between the Super Eagles and DR Congo at the same venue the same day. The unveiling ceremony will last 90 minutes, the period of a football match.
On Monday, the former Sweden boss admitted he is excited about the ceremony and actually looking forward to working with Nigeria’s army of talented footballers scattered round the globe.
“I am looking ahead to the event, and then we can get down to work because we do not have much time before the World Cup,” Lagerback said.
