Group Donates Books To School Pupils
A socio-cultural organsiation in Kwawa community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, the Kwawa Clique of Friends (K-COF), has donated books and writing materials to pupils of Community Primary School, Kwawa to promote learning in the area.
The group which made the donation last Friday, said in a statement that the gesture was its own way of promoting and supporting education in the community.
According to the group, the gesture was part of the activities marking the 10th anniversary of the body.
Speaking during the occasion, the Adminsitrator of the group, Mr Bale Innocent called on parents to send their children to school as the body was willing to assist children in the community to actualise their educational aspirations.
He also used the opportunity to thank the governor of the state, Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for building one of the model primary schools in the community and also transforming Community Primary School, Kwawa to a model primary school.
The administrator, however, regretted the slow pace of work at the school, and appealed to the contractor handling the school project to expedite action for its quick completion.
Responding, the headmaster of the school, Mr Jack Yorwika, thanked members of the body for the kind gesture, and appealed to other socio-cultural organisations in the area to emulate their footsteps.
The headmaster, however, complained that the school lacked enough teachers, and urged the relevant authorities and the Ministry of Education to post more teachers to the school.
Mr. Wugate Barine Emmanuel, the Deputy Administrator of the group told The Tide on Sunday in an interview that the Kwawa Clique of Friends would continue to identify with the educational aspirations of pupils in the community.
According to him, the donation of books and writing materials to the pupils of the school was a tip of the iceberg as members of the group were committed to do more.
