Aiyenugba Rues FIFA World Club Cup Miss
Former Nigeria international and Kwara United current goalkeeper,Dele Aiyenugba, has rued missing out on the chance to play at the FIFA world club cup despite twice winning the CAF champions league which would have handed such opportunity to feature at the tournament 17 and 18 years ago, respectively.
Aiyenugba speaking in a chat with Tidesports source after Egyptian side Al Ahly finished third beating Brazilian side Palmieras on penalties at the 2020/2021 edition of the FIFA club world cup in Qatar said it was indeed painful that the tournament was not held during Enyimba’s era of dominance on the continent of Africa and expressed imaginatively on what could have been had such opportunities been there for him and other players in the all conquering Enyimba team.
“All our set I remember, we all felt we were going to play but we couldn’t, we were sad about it but life goes on. It’s painful though, that we didn’t play in the FIFA club world cup. It’s painful but we still give glory to God that there is still life and there is still hope. It’s just the feel like oh I need to play but life goes on to me.”
