RSG To Launch Emblem Appeal Fund, ‘Morrow’
In an effort to galvanise support for the Nigerian Legion in Rivers State ahead of the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the Government of Rivers State has said it would launch the Armed Forces Emblem and Appeal Fund, tomorrow.
The Secretary to the State Government and Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Dr Tammy Danagogo, made this known during the meeting of the committee members in his office, Port Harcourt, yesterday.
According to the SSG, the annual event geared towards appreciating the gallant sacrifices of veterans in their hey days and families of those whose lives were cut short in service, will have Governor Nyesom Wike as the chief launcher.
He noted that as a solemn ceremony in cognizance of Covid-19 protocols, attendance will be based on invitation.
On his part, the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, observed that the peace being enjoyed by all in the state was as a result of the synergy and corporation between the state government and the security agencies, especially since after the launch of Operation Sting.
Furthermore, the Permanent Secretary, Special Service Bureau, SSG’s Office, Dr George Nwaeke, added that the 2021 celebration has a new clip of humanitarian service as part of the 2021 ceremonies.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the State Legionnaires’, Barrister Justice Chichi, thanked the government for the consistent support to the legionnaires.
The appeal fund launch would hold at the Hotel Presidential, tomorrow while the wreath laying event would hold on January 15, 2021 at the Isaac Boro Park, Port Harcourt.
