Barcelona Legend, Eto’o Relives Memorable Goal
Cameroon is a powerhouse in African football and respected globally for its performances especially at the 1990 FIFA World Cup.
At the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup, Cameroon also stunned the world by defeating Brazil en route to the final where they faced 1998 World champions, France.
Against the Seleção, the Indomitable Lions snatched a narrow 1-0 victory courtesy a goal from Samuel Eto’o.
As a 22 year-old, Eto’o was on the verge of becoming one of the best strikers in football and his move from Mallorca to Barcelona a year later set it all in motion.
He recalls the goal against Brazil and Cameroon’s quality in the 2003 edition of the Confederation Cup as very significant in his career.
Eto’o who would later make 118 caps for Cameroon, the second most appearances by any Cameroonian international, only bettered by Rigobert Song’s 137.
The striker also scored 56 international goals, the record highest goals scored by any Cameroonian for the Indomitable Lions.
“The most memorable goal I scored in my career was the goal against Brazil at the Confederation Cup,” he told brila.net.
