School Principal’s Death: Police Begin Manhunt On Andoni/Opobo Unity Road
The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Police, says it has begun manhunt for killers of the Principal of Comprehensive Senior High School, Nkoro,Dr. Patricia Obomanu last week.
Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni in a telephone chat with The Tide confirmed the killing but said investigations have commenced.
Omoni added, “We have declared war on the perpetrators.”
The late Dr. Obomanu according to reports was killed by bandits operating along the Ogoni/Andoni/Opobo Unity Road, and not by stray bullet.
Another version of the story has it that on the fateful Wednesday, she (Obomanu) had boarded an okada from Nkoro to Bori ahead of a meeting at the State Post Primary Schools Board in Port Harcourt.
They claimed that because of the urgency of the meeting, the motorbike was not aware that there had been a gun duel between the police and hoodlums along the road..
The motorcyclist carrying her ran into the hoodlums but on realising that they were bandits and not real policemen, he decided to make a u- turn before she was shot.
It was gathered that it was at that point that the bandits shot at the motorbike and got Obomanu at her lower abdomen and she fell on the bike.
It was gathered that it was at that point that she fell off the bike and bled till policemen dispatched from Bori Command came and took her to Bori General Hospital and later to a private clinic where she died from bleeding and bullet wounds.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Opobo/ Nkoro Local Government Area, Hon. Eugene Jaja has commiserated with the family of Dr. Obomanu as he assured them of the council’s support.
