RSG Hails Dame Jonathan, Dokpesi’s Contributions To Nation’s Unity
The Rivers State Government has felicitated with the wife of former President, Dame Patience Jonathan and the Chairman Emeritus of Daar Communications Plc, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi on their birthday celebrations.
A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, last Saturday, quoted the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, as felicitating with Dr Raymond Dokpesi on his 68th birthday.
Wike described the media mogul as a trailblazer who pioneered private broadcasting in Nigeria, and has played a key role in the sustenance of democracy, using his broadcast medium as a platform.
The Rivers State governor prayed God to grant High Chief Raymond Dokpesi several years of sound health to continue to contribute to nation building and the promotion of the unity and progress of the country.
Also, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, felicitated with Dame Patience Jonathan, as she celebrated her birthday, last Friday.
In a statement in Government House, Port Harcourt, Banigo said that Dame Patience Jonathan’s contribution to the socio-economic and political emancipation of Nigerian women was highly commendable.
According to her, Mama Peace as she is fondly called, has continued to support the Wike-led administration in the state, noting that she was a source of inspiration to the younger generation.
Banigo while wishing her many happy returns, prayed the Almighty God to continue to bless and keep her in good health.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
