Suspected Armed Robber Killed In Delta …As Police, Gunmen Exchange Fire
Officers and men of the Nigeria Police “B” Division in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Andrew, last Wednesday night, gunned down a suspected armed robber along Okumagba Avenue by Eburu junction near Cinema Site roundabout.
Three other suspects who sustained serious gunshot injuries, however, managed to escape from the scene.
Police also recovered one pump-action rifle, one cut-to-size gun, bullets and many mobile phones from the deceased suspect.
It was learnt that the deceased suspect and his fleeing gang members had shot an unidentified lady in their attempt to rob the lady who refused and struggled with them.
The deceased suspect and his gang had successfully robbed commercial shops, residents and passerby as they shattered the windshield of a vehicle in the area.
The police, acting on intelligence, stormed the area with the suspected armed robbers opening fire on them.
The gallant police officers returned the fire of the suspects and as the gun duel raged uninterrupted, one of the suspects was gunned down.
When contacted for his reaction, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyinka Adeleke confirmed the report, saying, “It happened. The DPO called and told him. You can call the DPO to give you details on the matter.”
