Wike Bags Icon Of Peace, Security Award As Boys Brigade Honours Gov
The leadership of Boys Brigade Nigeria, Rivers State Council has conferred on Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike the award of: “Icon of Peace and Security in Rivers State”.
The Rivers State Council of the Boys Brigade Nigeria conferred the award on Wike during a symposium on ‘Political Enlightenment’ at the Rivers State University, last Saturday.
Speaking at the event, President of Rivers State Council of the Boys Brigade Nigeria, Prof Blessing Didia said that the 23,000 members of the group were in support of the re-election of the Rivers State governor.
He said that they are happy with the governor’s contribution to the growth of Christianity in the state.
Also speaking, Rivers State Secretary of Boys Brigade Nigeria, Chukwudi Ebim said that the group believes in the exploits of the Rivers State governor, hence they will work for him.
While receiving the award, representative of the Rivers State governor, Hon Edison Ehie assured that the Rivers State Government was committed to youth development and development of Christianity in the state.
He noted that the state government’s development projects have changed the fortunes of the state, necessitating the need for the consolidation of the progress already made.
According to him, “Across the various segments of development, he has kept his own part of the bargain of promise he made to Rivers people in 2015. Rivers indigenes and non-indigenes are satisfied with the works of the governor who has sacrificed more than enough time and put in every resource to ensure we get the dividends of democracy.
“Having said that, today, we are talking about enlightenment, political enlightenment and youths against electoral violence, the first approach we must take if we want to achieve what we are doing today is the respect for rule of law”.
He said that it was unfortunate that the security agencies have not deemed it fit to invite APC leaders who threatened to disrupt elections in Rivers State for questioning proves the horrible plot against the state.
