Ogoni Women Endorse Wike, PDP Candidates
Ahead of the forthcoming general elections this year, women of Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State have unanimously adopted Governor Nyesom Wike for a second term in office.
The women also adopted all PDP candidates in the state for the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.
The Gokana women took the position at a summit put together by Lady Barinem Paul Kobani, wife of the Chairman, Gokana Local Government Area.
Speaking at the event held in Kpor, headquaters of the Council, Lady Kobani said the women took the position to enable the governor consolidate on his achievements in office in the last three years.
She said, “Today the women of Gokana have come together in one accord to support and return Governor Wike to Brick House come 2019.
“We also adopt other PDP candidates from the national down to the grassroots in order to enthrone quality and true leadership which the new vision of Governor Wike represents. This is the decision of Gokana women and it is total and absolute,”
On her part, a political leader of the area, Chief Priscilia Vikue, said the reelection of the governor in the forth-coming poll will benefit the Ogoni people.
“Unanimously we have agreed to vote for Governor Nyesom Wike to ensure that we re-elect the governor back to Government House in the forth-coming elections taking place this year.
“Also in one accord all Gokana women have agreed today to vote for our PDP candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly,” she stated.
