RSG Declares Three-Day Prayer / Fasting For 2019 Polls
Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike has recalled three suspended members of the State Executive Council.
The Rivers State Executive Council has approved a three-day special prayer and fasting for residents of the state.According to the statement the approval was given at the State Executive Council meeting last Wednesday.
The Secretary to the State Government, Chief Kenneth Kobani said, the prayer and fasting would commence on Wednesday January 16th and climax on Friday, January 18th 2019, between 9am and 12 noon each day.
The statement said Obi Wali Internaitonal Conference Hall would be used each day as venue for the programme.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Chief Kenneth Kobani last Wednesday named the affected commissioners as Hon. Boma Iyaya, Hon Commisisoner, Ministry of Sports; Hon Ibinabo Michael West, Hon Commissioner of Transport and Prof Kaniye Ebeku, Hon Commissioner Water Resources and Rural Development,
The statement enjoined all members of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), all Christian faithful, lovers of Rivers State, resident indigenes and non-indigenes and genuine church members to participate in the prayer and fasting programme to ensure peace and credible election is conducted in Rivers State.
In a statement issued from the office of the Secretary to the State Government stated that the three-day programme is organised to bring peace to Rivers State during the forthcoming general elections.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
