Two Docked Over N10.6m Kerosene Fraud
Two employees Abdullahi Yakubu and Victor Kalu were yesterday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates Court charged with obtaining N10.6 million on the pretext of supplying kerosene.
Yakubu, 43, a sales representative; resides in Kogi while Kalu, 37, a driver; resides in Agege area of Lagos.
The duo, who are being tried for conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretence and stealing however, denied the charges. They were granted bail of N600,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Tanimola, who gave the ruling said the sureties should be gainfully employed with an evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government. Earlier, Police Prosecutor, Aondohemba Koti told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 1, 2018 in Apapa, Lagos.
According to him, the accused conspired to defraud their employer, Mr Mohammed Idris, of N10.6 million under the pretext of supplying him 45,000 litres of kerosene. The accused approached the complainant that there was kerosene for sale at the Tin-Can Island in Apapa and asked him to buy.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
