RSG Moves To Deflood Choba, Rumualogu Road …Builds 1.1km Storm Drain
Motorists plying the busy Ozuoba, Rumualogu Choba road will soon heave a sigh of relief, following the on-going construction of a 1.1km storm drain by the Rivers State Government.
Chairman of the Rivers State Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Agency, Surveyor Sam Agwor who conducted newsmen round the project, said that the completion of the project will also bring relief to communities around the area.
Agwor said, the incessant flooding of the road had caused hardship not only to motorists but to residents of the area, and most of whom had packed out of the area because of flooding.
He said after discovering that the incessant flooding of the road was due to lack of drainages, the Agency decided to embark on the project to channel the water to the river.
According to him, before now, the area was always flooded leading to the collapse of some buildings.
“But with the commencement of this project, people are now coming back to the community”.
Agwor said that the project6 was designed to carry large volume of waters to the river, stressing that the entire mission road and Akpor-Ahia road Rumualogu will be deflooded.
Agwor also said that the Agency had intervened in the rehabilitation of some roads in Diobu and other parts of Port Harcourt City and environs.
Also speaking, the Head of Technical Unit, Rivers State Road Maintenance Agency, Engr. Enyindah Ubojiekere said that the project which would be completed in February 2019 would channel water from the road to the Choba river.
