Kwese Premier League: Large, Fanatical Crowd Watch Pillars, Bulls’ Match
A large and fanatical crowd at Bauchi Indoor Multipurpose Sports Complex, yesterday watched the 2017 champions, Kano Pillars and runners up, Gombe Bulls battle each other in the star match of the Kwese Basketball Premiere League.
The Savannah Conference match dunked off with the youthful Gombe team running a fast break pattern repeatedly and opening a seven-point gap within five minutes at 14-7.
The first quarter ended 21-16 in favour of the Bulls but poor shooting robbed Kano of chances of catching up with the Bulls.
The bulls dominated the game from start to finish in every department, winning every quarter.
Highest scorers on the Gombe team were Abdulwahab Yakubu 21 points; Sylvannus Yakubu, 13 and Okiki Afuwape, 13.
Celestine Nwafor was the only Kano Pillars player who scored in double figures with 11 points.
The fans, who were kept at the edge of their seats throughout the encounter, left the game satisfied with its quality.
