DG Flays Death Of Eight Cameroun Asylum Seekers
The Director General, Cross River State Primary HealthCare Development Agency (CRSPHCDA), Dr. Betta Edu has described the sudden death of eight Cameroonian refugees in Ikom as unfortunate and a sad story.
Edu, who was speaking with policemen on the death incidence, explained that Cross River State Government was very accommodating and could not in anyway contribute to the death of the said people and urged the media as well as the public to always authenticate reports before going to the Press.
She explained that the rumour that it was the food and immunization given by Cross River State Government that led to the death of the eight Cameroonians was not true, adding that specialists from the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) were assigned to ascertain the root cause of such death, hoping that the result of the autopsy would soon be released.
The director general maintained that, the healthcare services provided by CRSG was free and safe for the body.
She later called on the international community to look into the issue of the Cameroon refugees in Cross River State with a view addressing it to give them a sense of belonging.
