Institute Wants Investment In Data, Skills
The SAS Institute for Advanced Analytics has called for Investment in data, skills, leadership and nurturing of culture as a strategy to improve productivity.
The Principal Product Marketing Manager of SAS, Mr Tapan Patel, made the call in an electronic mail copied to newsmen in Lagos.
Patel said that having good data was essential for quick identification of relationships and potential outcomes to improve productivity.
On skills and leadership, the official said that there were significant challenges with innovation, creativity and leadership.
According to Patel, the best way to make sound business decisions is to find tools that enable both Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics strategy.
“It is because of this that organisations are adopting business intelligence and advanced analytics in a complementary manner to achieve bigger gains.
“For those looking to bolster both existing BI and analytics programmes, a natural way to start is by pinpointing key areas for improvement.
“To figure out what that means, SAS and the Internal Audit Foundation (IIA) surveyed large and mid-sized businesses about their maturity levels in adopting these technologies of which the results and recommendations revealed the biggest gaps.
“The gaps includes data preparation, skills and leadership, and ease of use,” he said.
