Abia Communities Embroiled In Land Dispute
Crisis appears to be looming between two Abia communities as Amaoba-Ime community in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, is spoiling for war over alleged grabbing of their land at Ajata Olokoro by Lodu Ndume community.
Lodu Ndume Ibeku community is situated in Umuahia North Local Government Area of the state.
A media report had raised alarm by Amaoba-Ime community in Ikwuano LGA of Abia State, over alleged invasion of the community by kidnappers and armed robbers.
However, speaking with newsmen at the NUJ press centre in Umuahia, the state capital, yesterday, King Otuwa, the 1st traditional ruler of Amaoba-Ime autonomous community, explained that the looming crisis was as a result of the community’s land situated at Ajata Olokoro, which he alleged was being grabbed and sold out to few criminally-minded persons in Lodu community.
According to the monarch, “They sold Amaoba-Ime community lands at Ajata to Lodu Ndume land grabbers. The land at Ajata has been with Amaoba-Ime hundreds of years, and it is very disappointing that some indigenes of Amaoba are involved in the criminal act.
