Sekibo Lauds Wike Over Neighbourhood Watch Law
The former minister for Transport, Dr Abiye Sekibo has lauded the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for signing the state Neighbourhood Watch Bill into law.
Sekibo, who made this known while speaking to aviation correspondents at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, at the weekend, said that Wike was not the first governor to set up neighbourhood watch agency in the country.
He said that any meaningful government will do everything possible to secure the people considering the kind of country we live in and the high level of insecurity pervading the nation at the moment.
According to him, “I congratulate Wike for doing it. Don’t forget that he is not the first governor in Nigeria to set up the neighborhood watch.
“Lagos State has it as well as other APC states, and Katsina State, which is the state of the President, is right now in the process of getting it.
“Any serious governor must take the security of his people seriously, considering the security situation we have in this country. That is what the governor has done.
“All the comments that the APC is making are all politics. If anyone of them is the governor, they will do the same. Those talks are all politics,” he added.
