Monarch Denies Sponsorship Of Criminal Gang
A traditional ruler in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Kemakolom Nwanuo, has denied the allegation of sponsoring a criminal gang in the area.
Chief Nwanuo, who is also the Onuowu I of Etche Ethnic Nationality also denied the allegation that he is a murderer but, however, said he is a philanthropist, helping the less priviledge in the society. The Etche High Chief made these clarification Wednesday, in Port Hracourt while reacting to a recent newspaper publication by one Mrs. Ursula Egege, accusing him of killing her late husband in November 2016 at his community, Igbo Etche.
Mrs Ursula Egege, had in the said publication in one of the national dalies alleged that Chief Kemakolom Nwanuo was a murderer as well as a gang leader of a notorious gang in Eetche LGA, but Chief Kemakolom in a swift reaction to the allegations denied knowing the widow and her late husband. According to him, he first met with Mrs. Ursula Egege that faithful day at the scene where her husband was allegedly shot by unknown gunmen alongside Police Officers from Umuebulu Divisional Headquarters, adding that he received a phone call that somebody was shot and he immediately contacted the police. “I don’t know the deceased and his wife, I only met Mrs. Ursula on the day the husband was shot dead at the scene alongside olice men from Umuebulu”.
“I am a traditional ruler in Etche ethnic nationality, a philanthropist, helping people. I didn’t know the deceased and his wife until that day. Later I was called at the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) to come and give my statement on the matter as the traditional ruler”.
“It was at the scene, I met the wife of the deceased for the first time with the officials from Umuebulu Division. Later, I was called at the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) to come and give my statement on the matter as the traditional ruler of the community”.
