OPM Trains 337 Youth, Repentant Cultists On Skills
The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), Apostle Gift Chibuzor Chinyere, has said that 337 youth, including repentant cultists have benefitted from its Free Skills Training Acquisition Programme in Rivers State.
Chinyere told newsmen during his visit to interact with the repentant cultists undergoing reformation and rehabilitation at the OPM Foundation in Port Harcourt, last Friday, that the gesture was designed to give the converts a new lease of life, and make them contribute meaningfully to sound economic growth and development.
His words: “These are the soldiers of Doctor Jesus as God rescued them. Some of them surrendered their arms to the church and repented, and became born again. And by the grace of God, we were able to provide them with accommodation in order to rehabilitate them, because these are people that are used to living in the streets and bush, specialising in kidnapping and armed robbery, among others”.
“Also, we provided them with three square meals per day, and their girls already have two to three children. The church paid their bride prices and ensured they are wedded in the church, so that they could fulfill all righteousness and make heaven at last.”
Chinyere stated also that there was no discrimination in the good work he was doing to win souls for God, adding that the free skills training programme incorporates non-members of OPM, who are ready and willing to give their lives to God.
He also added that “some of the repentant cultists are in the School of Theology, while their children have been placed on free school scholarship from pre-nursery to university level,” adding that,“the essence is to rid the streets of hoodlums and youth restiveness, and by so doing, winning more souls to God.
“We are open to some captains of industry that are members of OPM and I have told them to try and employ these people because I am sure that they need to be liberated.”
The Tide reports that the repentant cultists are currently receiving free training in pipeline welding, oil and gas, software development engineering and computer, marine construction, which includes barge design/construction, houseboat/tugboat design and construction, installation and alignment of propulsion engine for marine vessels, sandblasting and painting (corrosion control).
Others include free paint making, generator repairs, refrigerator and air conditioner repairs, carpentry and furniture making, tailoring and driving.
