Rerun: RSG Declares 3-Day Fast
The Rivers State Government has declared three days of fasting and prayers to seek divine intervention for peaceful re-run elections in the state on Saturday.
A statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Dr. Austin Tam-George, said Governor Nyesom Wike approved that the fasting should begin today, Wednesday, December 7, and end on Friday, December 9, 2016.
Tam-George pointed out that the fasting programme, which would involve all those that are resident in the state, would seek God’s mighty hands to put detractors who are bent on causing confusion to shame.
“We know that when we seek the face of God, He will cause our state to have a peaceful re-run election, and no principality or power can stand Him,” he stated.
The commissioner enjoined all residents of the state to join the governor and participate in this spiritual exercise, which would certainly bring the presence of God during the polls on Saturday.
He reiterated government’s resolve to support the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security forces to perform their duties lawfully, adding that they must resist to be used as tools in the hands of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tam-George called on Rivers people to refuse any attempt to be intimidated but to come out en masse to vote for candidates of their choice and protect their votes on Saturday.
