Cleric Tasks Nigerians On Prayers
The Bishop of Evo Dio
cese of the Anglican Communion, Bishop Innocent Ordu, has charged Nigerians to be of good conduct and pray fervently so as to restore the dignity of the nation.
Bishop Ordu gave the charge at the 2016 Evo Diocesan Independence Day Prayer and Praise Carnival held at All Saints Cathedral Rumukwurushi, Port Harcourt to mark the 56th Independence anniversary celebration of the country recently.
He emphasised the need for fervent prayers, adding that the best way to celebrate a nation, that had been bedevilled by corruption and maladministration was to pray to God to direct its affairs.
He told the Church not to contribute to the spiritual, physical, environmental, political and economic collapse of the country, stressing that Nigerians should imbibe the spirit of nation-building and be patriotic in their actions.
Also speaking, Venerable Chidi Worgu of Church of Holy Spirit, Eleme encouraged the Church to always put God first in its affairs and those of the country, saying “the labours of our heroes past shall not be in vain as Nigeria will be great again”.
Speaking in an interview with The Tide, he said that the aim of the gathering was to pray for Nigeria so that the country would be at peace.
