RSG Donates 130 Vans, Others To Security Agencies

The Rivers State Government has boosted the fight against crime in the state with the donation of 130 security vans fitted with communication gadgets in the last one year.
The state government hit the number only last Monday when it donated additional 20 patrol vans fitted with state-of-the-art communication equipment to the state police command.
The state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, who made the presentation through the Permanent Secretary of Government House, Port Harcourt, Mr Onyemachi Nwankwo, assured all security agencies operating in the state of his commitment to assisting them with the required logistics to perform better.
The Tide recalls that the governor and the 23 local government areas of the state had on two previous occasions released 110 patrol vans to security agencies operating in the state.
The governor also facilitated the release of dedicated telephone lines to the police for faster response to residents in distress.
Wike further released bullet proof vests and helmets to the Rivers State police command.
He noted that the Rivers State Government will continue to play her role in the strengthening of the state security architecture, so that people can continue to peacefully live and do business in the state.
Wike commended the police for her efforts to enhance the security of lives and property in the state.
Receiving the patrol vans, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Foluso Adebanjo, commended Wike for responding to the demand for facilities that will help nip crime in the bud.
He urged eminent persons and the general public to cooperate with the police on the issue of providing useful information towards enabling the force to bring down criminality to its barest minimum.
Also speaking, Chairman, Traditional Rulers Council of Rivers State, and Amayanabo of Opobo Kingdom, King Dandeson Douglas-Jaja, called for collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to fight crime.
He identified the abuse of drugs as a factor responsible for the increase of crime in the state.
