Ayade To Sustain Labour Friendly Disposition – Commissioner
The Cross River State
Government has restated the resolve of Governor Ben Ayade to sustain and build on the current labour friendly disposition of his administration to ensure good working environment in the State.
The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. RoseMary Archibong made Government’s intention known when State Executive Council of the Radio Television, Theatre & Arts Workers’ Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) Cross River State Council paid a courtesy call on her in her office in Calabar.
Mrs. Archibong maintained that Governor Ayade had continued to take the welfare of workers seriously, which was why he was concerned about paying salaries as at when due, saying Cross River State is the only State in the Country that has paid January 2016 salaries to Civil and Public Servants, as well as Local Government Workers and Pensioners.
The Commissioner told RATTAWU leadership that Governor Ayade was working assiduously towards the realisation of his signature projects, pointing out that clearing and earth work were on-going at five different sections of the 260kilometers Super Highway, being handled by five different Companies.
She used the forum to announce that the State Government had temporarily approved a parking lot for the Petroleum Tanker Drivers in the State, who hitherto blocked both sides of the Murtala Mohammed Highway, Calabar, noting that Governor Ayade had been very concerned about the danger of parking heavy duty vehicles on both sides of the road with heavy vehicular movement, especially as schools in the State had resumed.
The Commissioner charged RATTAWU members and other Media Workers in the State to give regular publicity to the progress of work on these projects, and solicited the cooperation and understanding of the Union in this regard.
Earlier in a speech, the RATTAWU Chairman, Cross River State Council, Comrade John Mboto, congratulated the Commissioner on her well deserved appointment and commended her for the exemplary leadership style.
Comrade Mboto appealed to the State Government to pay arrears of the 22 per cent Consolidated Weigh-in allowance saying that the union was ready to sustain cordial working relationship with the state.
