Radio Port Harcourt Rebrands To Wave 91.7FM
The management of Radio Port Harcourt has changed its operational name to Wave 91.7 FM.
The change was part of the measures put in place by the management to reposition the station among the best radio broadcast stations in the country.
Speaking at a briefing ceremony held at the premises of the station in Port Harcourt, over the weekend, to mark the official launch of the new name “Wave 91.7 FM”, the Managing Director, Mr. Femi Sowolu said the management took the decision to change the name in other to serve the audience better.
Mr. Sowolu stated that the station still operates at the 91.7 frequency Modulation (FM) adding that the station has been repositioned for better and quality service.
He a verred that the station at the moment could compete with any radio station in country, adding that the station would within few days commence 24 hours broad casting network.
According to him, hard decisions were taken during the rebranding process adding that many staff were laid off, while others were retrained to achieve new objectives of the station.
“Radio Port Harcourt rebranding and with this comes many promises for the future of broad casting in Rivers State and its environs, promises that will touch every persons and business in and around Rivers.
“To this end, please feel free to call us Wave 91.7FM, your numerouno, the one stop dial that has guts and always befying the norm”, he stated.
The Managing Director assured that the Station has incisive programmes, good entertainment, first hard news reporting, wealther forecast, sports, special events, packaged shows, first class live transmission of occasions and events and many others.
Mr. Sowolu however, said the station had been test-runing for 18 hours, with the desire to go on 24 hours broad cast in few days, adding that the station would be the delight of the moment.
He called on the people of the state to always tune in and listen to the station at 91.7FM as well as patronize stressing that the station was committed to efficient service delivery.
The high point of the event was the official presentation at the Wave 91.7FM Logo, heralding the new change.
