Heartland Ends Sunshines’ Home Invincibility
Sunshine Stars Football
Club of Akure on Wednesday lost their 100 per cent home record in the ongoing 2014/2015 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
The record went with their goalless draw against Heartland FC of Owerri in a Match Day 27 fixture.
It was even Heartland FC who had the better chances of the encounter, but they were rather wasteful in front of goal at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure.
The Owena Waves made early changes, with Kareem Sadiq being replaced with Adigun Adebayo in the 30th minute, to reduce the threat from the visitors.
At the end of the match, the normal post-match press conference could not be held as some of the home fans were not happy with their team’s performance.
The result left Sunshine Stars in second place on the log with 47 points, trailing Enyimba International FC of Aba with five points.
Sunshine Stars will now visit Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan in a South-West derby in Ibadan on Sunday.
