RSNC, NTA Drum Support For PCC Boss
The Managements of the
Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC) and Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), have expressed support for the appointment of Dr. Alpheaus Paul-Worika as the new Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission (PCC) in charge of Rivers State.
The General Manager of the corporation, Mr. Celestine Ogolo, who said this during a courtesy call by Paul-Worika and other members of the commission in his office described the PCC boss as a round peg in a round hole.
He said that the RSNC management was happy that the new federal commissioner who was a staff of the corporation has been given responsibility to serve the state and the nation on a higher capacity and assured of the corporation’s readiness to give him the desired support to succeed.
Ogolo also called on Paul-Worika to build on the foundation laid by his predecessors by reviving the confidence of the people on the capacity of the commission to handle their complaints, adding that the Public Complaint Commission is too important to the socio- economic development of the country as it functions to address all forms of social in justice.
Earlier, Paul-Worika had described the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation as an important agency charged with responsibility of bringing government policies and programmes to the people.
He said that the purpose and functions of the Public Complaints Commission must be properly communicated to the people and stressed the need for The Tide to do more in communicating the vision of PCC to the grassroots.
At the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), the PCC boss promised that the commission under his leadership would operate an open-door-policy in entertaining complaints of injustice in the state.
Leading a management team of the commission on courtesy visit to the Zonal Director of NTA, Port Harcourt, Mr Sunday Ibrahim Sawntong, Paul-Worika called on people and residents of the state to take advantage of the commission to seek justice and fairness on diverse issues bothering them as a people or group. He said the commission would do all within its official framework to ensure justice to those who were denied justice.
He regretted that inspite of the fact that there are so many issues in the state that ought to be resolved by the commission, the affected people failed to approach the commission with such cases and advised people to feel free and come to the commission with their complaints.
Responding, the Zonal Director commended the PCC boss for his appointment and also for funding the station worthy for the collaboration and assured him that NTA would give the commission all needed support to succeed in the efforts of the new management to reposition the place.
