RSG To Partner CBOs On Dev- Dep Gov
The Rivers State Government says it will partner well-meaning organizations to bring sustainable development to the state.
The Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo gave this indication on Wednesday when the President General of Bakana Community Development Association, Mr. Iloye Dokubo-Braide, led members of the association on a courtesy visit to her office in Government House, Port Harcourt.
Harry Banigo restated the state government’s preparedness to partner with organizations and agencies that show genuine interest in identifying with the development blueprint of the Governor Nyesom Wike-led government.
She charged the people of Bakana to maintain peaceful co-existence as it is the only way to attract developmental projects to the community while calling on the association to liaise with relevant bodies to resolve issues that had divided them in the past.
“We want to see our community, Bakana live in peace as brothers and sisters, there is no way development can take place in our community if we are divided”, she said.
The deputy governor advised them to preach peace, and encourage the youth to toe the path of moral rectitude by shunning negative vices that would tarnish the image of the community.
“Please encourage our youths to develop themselves morally, physically and financially. Our own example will speak volumes more than any amount of money we give them. They should see us as role models in our community”, she stated.
Harry Banigo, said that the present government was determined to embark on projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people, stressing that government has already started demonstrating its willingness to give every part of the state a sense of belonging in appointments.
On the lack of a functional health centre in the community, the deputy governor said government would direct the Ministry of Health to ensure that health workers are posted to the area to boost primary healthcare.
She thanked Bakana people for the support given to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to win the 2015 Governorship elections in the state, and called for their prayers as the Chief Nyesom Wike-led administration is poised to provide even development in the state.
Earlier, the President General of Bakana Community Development Association Mr. Iloye Dokubo Braide, congratulated the deputy governor on her resounding victory at the April 11, 2015 polls, and called on the state government to look into the problem of power outage, lack of pipe borne water, shoreline protection, and poor educational and health facilities in the area.
