Semenitari Tasks Media Practitioners On Professionalism
The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, has charged media practitioners in the state to continue to uphold the core values of the profession anchored on objectivity, professionalism and productivity.
Semenitari, who said this during a send-forth ceremony organized by the Ministry in her honour and in appreciation of other retirees, also paid glowing tribute to Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for giving her the opportunity to serve the people of the state.
The Commissioner said that her mission to reposition the Ministry and state-owned media houses for greater productivity has been fulfilled.
She said that the Resource Centre of the Ministry has been revived, while Garden City Radio, which was not in existence before her appointment has been activated and was now in transmission.
She further said that the installation of a brand new Goss Community Rotary Machine for The Tide Newspaper was almost completed, just as all the equipment necessary for the digitalization of Radio Rivers have been delivered.
Semenitari added that process for the procurement of equipment for the Rivers State television (RSTV) was before the Bureau of Public procurement.
She stressed the need for the incoming administration in the Ministry to consolidate on the achievements made so far.
Chairman of the occasion, Sir Ngo Martyns-Yellowe, described Semenitari as a star in government-media relations, stressing that her tenure has helped to improve the practice of Journalism in the state.
Matins-Yellowe, who is the Chairman of the Rivers State Civil Service Commissions, also described Semenitari as a capable woman, who brought special touch to her work.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications, Mr. Sam Woke said that the Commissioner has made several commitments towards improving service delivery in the ministry.
He specially thanked her for giving adequate attention to staff welfare as well as ensuring that the ministry’s temporary staff are paid regularly.
