S’Africa, Côte d’Ivoire Fail To Qualify For AAG
South Africa and Côte
d’Ivoire were sent packing in the final round of the All Africa Games Brazzaville 2015 qualifiers on Saturday.
Defeated 2-0 by Sudan in Khartoum in the first leg, South Africa U23 could only manage a 1-0 victory back home at Dobsonville Stadium to ultimately lose 1-2 on aggregate.
After failing to convert a few good chances, the locals opened the score through Subusiso Mahlangu in the 83rd minute, but that was too little too late for South Africa who bid farewell to their hopes of reaching the last 8 of the continental event.
Côte d’Ivoire U23 suffered a similar fate a bit later in Abidjan, after being held to a goalless draw by Burkina Faso at the Robert Champroux Stadium to bow out 1-2 on aggregate following their defeat to the Stallions in the first leg in Ouagadougou.
Sudan and Burkina Faso were the first sides to join Congo in the 2015 All Africa Games, with the 5 remaining teams unveiled yesterday following the last encounters of the qualifying campaign.
