2017 AFCON: Coach Calls For Early Preparation
In order to ensure that
Nigeria’s Super Eagles qualify for the 32nd African Cup of Nations scheduled to hold in Gabon in 2017 former coach of De-Pioneers Football Club of Port Harcourt, Benjamin Nwoke has called for early preparation for the team.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are drawn with Egypt, Tanzania and Chad in Group G in the nations cup qualifiers that would commence in June this year.
Nwoke made the call in a telephone interview with Tidesports, yesterday, saying that he still had confidence in Super Eagles, but there is need for early camping.
According to him, “If the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) did not settle the issue of who is to be the need of our senior team, it will hinder the success of the team.
‘Nigerians should not be so sure that they will qualify automatically in Group G because there are no more underdogs in football. Every country is trying to prove itself, especially in the continental competition.
“If nothing is done to address the situation as soon as possible we may end up not qualifying, that is, exactly what happened last time,” Woke said.
The former coach also urged NFF to employ a competent coach that would not only qualify the Super Eagles for Nations Cup, but also the World Cup.
“If NFF feels that Stephen Keshi has the potentials to continue leading the Super Eagles, they should allow him without further delay, otherwise it is important for NFF to contract a new coach that can deliver,” he added.
