Double Trophy Delights Rivers Angels Coach

Edwin Okon has said he is delighted to have led the Port Harcourt club to a league and cup double this year.
On Sunday, Rivers Angels beat Sunshine Queens of Akure 2-0 to win the Federation Cup and on Wednesday, they finished top of the league.
They finished the season with 39 points, three more than Pelican Stars of Calabar, who finished second after a 1-0 win over last season’s champions Nasarawa Amazons.
”For the past five seasons we were always in the FA Cup finals and we always failed to win the league but have been luckier in the cup and that informed why we have won it five times,” said an elated Okon, who is also the Falcons coach.
“The winning mentality is there now and I am the happiest person at the moment with this feat.”
The back-to-back Women’s Federation Cup winners were crowned the league champions following a 3-1 win over Edo Queens at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
Golden girl of the moment Asisat Oshoala led the team to success in Benin with a brace with her first goal a minute into the game.
Thirty minutes later, the best player at the 2014 African Women’s Championship pounced on a cross from Ugo Njoku to double Rivers Angels lead.
Hosts Edo Queens pulled a goal back in the 36th minute when they capitalised on error by Rivers Angels goalkeeper Ibubeleye Whyte.
With three minutes to the end of game, Ngozi Ebere sealed the victory with the third goal and her seventh goal of the season after she took a short corner to Aminat Yakubu, who returned the pass to her, allowing her curl the ball beyond the despairing hands of U17 FIFA Women’s World Cup goal keeper, Onyinyechi Okeke.
Oshoala then missed a glorious chance to complete her hat-trick on the day.
