Golden Eaglets Thrash Gabon 5-0
Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets
at the weekend paid back Gabon for the humiliation they suffered in Libreville a forthright ago by thrashing them 5-0 to qualify for the African U-17 Championship next year in Niger.
The Eaglets lost the first encounter 2-1 to qualify for Niger 2015 on a 6-2 aggregate.
The Eaglets, who were harassed by their Gabonese hosts in the first leg qualifier on account of the outbreak of the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease, led 3-0 at the interval.
Skipper Kelechi Nwakali scored from the penalty spot and Ebere Osinachi lived up to his pre-match boast with a brace in the first half, before Kehinde Ayinde also scored a double in the second half.
The world champions will now join seven other countries including hosts Niger in the African Junior Championship in February.
