The Rivers State Police
Command has confirmed the release of the Chairman of Ahoada-West Local Government Area, Hon Miller Awori, by his abductors.
The Commissioner of Police, Tunde Johnson Ogunsakin, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the evaluation of command at the State Criminal Investigative Department (CID), in Port Harcourt, Wednesday.
CP Ogunsakin disclosed that Hon Awori Miller, who was kidnapped three weeks ago, was freed from the kidnappers’ den at about 0300 hours Wednesday.
He told journalists that the police in the state would constantly restrategise and review its operational strategies to effectively ensure the safety of lives and properties in the state.
According to him, the task of safe guarding the lives and properties of the people of any community was not the duty of the police alone, adding that it requires a collaborative effort of the law enforcement agents and the people.
“Citizens should make it a point of duty to provide necessary information to security agents, who in turns owe them a duty to protect their identities he stated.
He warned criminals in the state to desist from their nefarious activities or be prepared to face the full wrath of the law as the police under his watch would leave no stone unturned, to ensure that criminals were fished out and prosecuted.
The police boss assured law-abiding residents of the state to go about their legitimate business without the fear of harassment from anybody.
