Sharks FC Conducts Players’ Medical Test
Sharks football club of
Port Harcourt has implemented the directive of the league management company to conduct preliminary medical checks on its playing staff and result attached to the license of the players before the new season.
The players were subjected to various blood tests, blood pressure check and ECG to ascertain the heart condition and physical fitness of the players.
Captain of the side Odinga Odinga described the medical test as the best directive the league management has given to clubs in recent times stressing that it will go a long way in discovering life threatening injuries or ailment amongst players.
“I give kudos to the league management company for the directive to clubs to subject their players to medical test” Odinga said.
“This will go a long way to exposing players with injuries including those with life threatening ailment so that we will not have players collapsing on the field of play” Odinga added.
Midfielder, Kinsley Patrick fondly called Nakata by his team mates said the directive by the LMC would add value to the standard of the league as only physically fit players would be registered for the 2013/2014 season.
“The Medical test will certainly add value to the league because players will no longer hide injuries from club officials before registration for the new season” Patrick said.
Meanwhile, technical adviser of the side, Gbenga Ogunbote who shared the sentiment of his players gave the management of sharks’ thumbs up for adhering to the directive of the LMC.
“I still want to commend the sharks management set up, what they are trying to put in place will be second to none in the league” Ogunbote said.
“They are ensuring that everybody is well taken care of medically which is in line with the directive of the LMC”.
“You agree with me that the health of a player is the most important aspect of his career and this the management of sharks is not shying away from” He echoed.
Sharks football club is expected to kick start the new season with a date against Bayelsa United in Yenagoa.
