Irepodun, Ilorin-East Councils Set For U-18 Final
Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State has qualified for the final of the 9th edition of the Bukola Saraki U-18 Soccer Cup competition.
The council defeated hard-fighting Baruten Local Government Area 1-0 in the semi-final match decided at the Government Secondary School, Omu-Aran playing ground on Friday.
The council would play against its counterpart from Ilorin East in the competition organised by the Emirate Youth Sports (EYS) among the 16 local government areas of the state.
Ilorin East had edged out Oyun 5-4 on penalties, after a goalless draw at regulation time.
The final leg of the competition has been scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 19, at the main-bowl of Kwara Stadium complex by 4 p.m.
Alhaji Ali Olola, the EYS’s Coordinator said the competition had lived up to the organisers’ expectations.
He said the competition was introduced to complement the State Government’s youths and sports development programme.
Olola thanked the Chairman of Irepodun local government, Alhaji Luqman Owolewa, for his contribution toward the successful hosting of the competition.
“We would forever remain grateful to Irepodun local government for the support and assistance in making this competition a huge success,” he said.
