Chietaincy Stools: Etche Youths Carpet Amaechi’s Critics
The National Youth Coun
cil of Nigeria (NYCN), Etche chapter has berated those criticising the State Governor, Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for upgrading some chieftaincy stools in the area, describing them as enemies of Etche Ethnic Nationality.
It would be recalled that the state government through the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Samuel Enyiba recently announced additional two First Class Stools for Okehi and Igbo Kingdoms as well as the up-grading of the Ulakwo Umuselem and Ozuzu Stools to second class.
Speaking to journalists at Okehi, the headquarters of Etche Local Government Area recently, the NYCN Chairman, Etche chapter, Hon. Precious Dike said the elevation of the various stools in the area by the State government was for the good of Etche people.
Hon. Dike who is also the Special Adviser to the Etche Local Government Council on Youth, Students and Crisis Resolution opined that the state governor did not err in his action, adding that Etche Ethnic Nationality had been under one kingdom for many decades.
According to him, the area was too large to be ruled under one kingdom. He said the governor’s action was not to undermine the traditional institution in the State as being insinuated in some quarters.
“This process will create a lot of opportunities and enhance developmental process in the area as more clans and wards will be created out of the new kingdoms”, he stated.
The Etche Youth Council boss averred that the State governor had through his actions proved to Etche people that he was sent by God to correct the injustices meted out to the people by past administrations in the state.
Hon. Dike stated that Governor Amaechi was the only State Chief Executive who had identified the problems of the people and proffered solutions to them, stressing that his developmental strides were visible in Etche and other parts of the state.
He urged the State Governor not to be distracted by those self-styled critics and rabble-rousers, adding that the people of Etche especially the youths would continue to support him at all times.
The Etche youth leader used the opportunity to advise critics, especially those from Etche to watch their words, adding that their actions would be used against them in future.
