Also speaking, the former Military Administrator of old Rivers State, Major General Godwin Abbe (rtd) said that the focus of the Bible Society of Nigeria was for kingdom expansion.
“We exist to meet the need of every Nigerian in general and Christian churches in particular, in helping people interact with the word of God. “It is our vision to achieve the widest possible effect in the distribution of the Holy Scripture at an inconceivably cheap price anyone can think of” he said.
The former Military Administrator also charged members to live righteous lives and enjoined the group to take the message to every nook and cranny of the country.
Also speaking, the Area Chairman of Rivers/Bayelsa Chapter of the society, Venerable Rufus .T. Etire said that more than 2, 902 Bibles had been distributed in the past five years.
Venerable Etire also said that the society was facing challenges in its membership drive programme, Bible weekly celebration and the Bible House project.
He said that the Kaiama Auxiliary had been created while efforts were on to create that of Borokiri out of Port Harcourt, Sama out of Buguma and Obonoma out of Abonnema.
He also decried the poor financial standing of the society in the two states. In his words, “money is needed to visit churches in the two states either to revive moribund churches or create new auxiliaries” he said.
