FIFA Appoints Nigerian Ref For World Cup
FIFA has appointed Nigeria’s Peter Edibi as one of the referees to officiate in the upcoming Club World Cup.
In a letter from FIFA Referees Committee confirming his appointment, Edibi was asked to report to the Palmeraie Golf Palace Hotel in Marrrakech, Morocco by December 4.
Apart from Edibi, five other African referees were also invited to officiate in the annual tournament, and they include: Gassama Bakary Papa of Gambia, who will be in charge of Nigeria’s game with Ethiopia this weekend, Alioum Neant and Menkwande Evarist of Cameroun, Ogbamarien Angeson of Eritrea and Kabanda Felicien of Rwanda.
The Club World Cup which is scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 11-21, will see the likes of Bayern Munich of Germany, Al Ahly of Egypt, Atletico Mineiro of Brazil, Monterrey of Mexico, Auckland City of New Zealand and hosts Raja Casablanca compete for the $20 million prize on offer.
