NSCDC Prosecutes 60 Suspected Vandals
The Nigeria Security
and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Akwa Ibom State said it prosecuted 60 people for alleged vandalism and theft of electricity facilities between January and October, 2013.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Ime White, made the disclosure in an interview in Uyo, yesterday.
White said the command impounded 47 vehicles laden with stolen products and items vandalised at public facilities during the period.
He said those arrested include a PHCN manager nabbed while vandalising electricity installations at Nung Oku Community in Ibesikpo/Asatan Local Government Area.
They were arrested with PHCN branded vehicle from Port Harcourt.
White said that the command impounded 25 tankers, five trucks, 12 cars and five tricycles during the period. The command also impounded stolen feeder cables, insulators, ladders and other tools from the suspects, during the period,” White said.
