Cleric Wants Policy On Yearly Thanksgiving
A clergyman, Apostle
Sampson Nelson Awaji has charged Nigerian government at all levels to formulate a policy that will mandate them to conduct yearly thanksgiving to God as a way of appreciating his love, mercies and the good things he has been doing for the country.
Apostle Awaji gave the charge at the 2013 convention of Ojoto Area of the Apostolic Church, Nigeria, Maritime Field, Port Harcourt, saying that such thanksgiving would usher in peace and stability through prayers across the nation.
The man of God stressed the need for Nigerian leaders to rule with the fear of God because whatever positions they find themselves came from Him and they are there to fullfil divine mandate, pointing out that it is important for them to submit themselves to God.
Apostle Awaji who is the Superintendent of Ojoto Area of the Apostolic church explained that the convention with the theme,” Repairing God’s Broken Altar” was aimed at bringing back the hearts of People to the real biblical doctrine which condemns hatred, tribal sentiments, carnal practices and other sins inimical to human and spiritual growth.
Also speaking, the Field Superintendent and national vice president of the Apostolic Church, Nigeria, Maritime Field, Apostle (Dr) Augustus Nunakie Aieba said the convention provided an opportunity for members to increase their spiritual status as well as preach the gospel to win more souls for Christ.
“Many souls have been saved for God and many healed of their afflictions and we also used the event to pray for the country and the leders for peace to reign,” Apostle Aieba said.
He enjoined members of the church to support the government through prayers while the government on its part should also support the church financially pointing out that“the church works in synergy with government to move the country forward.”
In his address, the Area Administrative Secretary of the Church, Rev Samuel Baridon Nuateh urged those at the corridors of power to endeavour to be close to God and live holy life.
