Floods: NOA Warns Rivers
As the rains get heavier, the National Orientation Agency (NOA), has thrown its weight behind earlier warnings given by relevant agencies that parts of the country will be massively flooded this year, and that precaution should be taken.
NOA said the warnings by Nigerian Meteorological Agency and the National Emmergency Managment Agency (NEMA) that some states in the country, including Rivers State, prone to flooding this year, should be taken seriously and not treated with kid gloves.
Speaking in an interview with The Tide yesterday in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Director of NOA, Mr Oliver Wolugbom urged the people of the state to heed the warnings, as disregarding it will bring untold hardship and unpleasant consequences to the parts of the state that will be affected.
Mr Wolugbom said to ensure compliance with the warnings, the NOA had embarked on public enlightenment campaign to sensitise the people of the danger of ignoring the warnings, as a stitch in time saves nine.
